Facebook’s users are decreasing for the first time ever, you could be paid to stay of social media and YouTube is raking the money in!
Facebook has been in the news this week as there has been a decline in users for the first time in the company’s history! The giant has seen its daily active users drop after 18 years, with revenue slowing and stocks plummeting! Rivals such as YouTube and TikTok have seen a major increase over the last year, with advertising budgets the biggest they’ve ever seen, whereas Facebook, or should we say Meta, has seen their shares slump by 20%. Could this be due to Facebook rebranding or do you think their scandals are finally catching up to them?
Social Media
Do you feel like you spend too much time on social media? Then this could be the answer for you. One company has started to offer ‘social media lovers’ a chance to take part in a study to look at the effects of social media on health and wellbeing. If the applicant is successful and can avoid staying off Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter, Snapchat and YouTube, then they will be rewarded £2000! Would you be willing to stay off your phone for a couple of grand?
YouTube
YouTube has hit the headlines this week as it seems that people have been loving the social media platform – even more than Netflix! In terms of quarterly revenue, YouTube $8.6 billion in advertising revenue at the end of 2021, nearly a billion dollars more than Netflix. With a 32% increase compared to the year before, this is huge news for YouTube, with industries such as retail and travel making up a huge chunk of advertising on the platform. Looks like companies should potentially look at their marketing strategies…
